Our lightweight filler ‘Stiff’ consists of hollow microspheres that consist largely of silicon dioxide and aluminium dioxide. These hollow microspheres are characterised by a particularly low density and high melting temperatures. Their chemical composition also makes them inert, water resistant and non-toxic.

Hollow microspheres are produced during the combustion of coal in thermal power plants. At temperatures of 1500–1750 °C, combustion causes the particles to form in the fly ash.
